I don’t know about you, but I’ve been wearing a lot less makeup lately. Honestly I’ve been focusing a lot more on skincare. For example, forcing myself to put on skincare before bed even on the nights I don’t want to. However, when it comes to makeup, I’m really into discovering more clean brands and products lately.

Although I have been exploring clean beauty of all kinds (you can check out my review of the new Lawless clean blush here), I’m very intrigued by clean lip products. Even though I know we absorb chemicals through our skin too, it just seems even more important to have clean lip products since we ingest so much of them. Usually I’m a lipstick girl. Even more specifically, a long wear liquid lipstick girl. However, between summer and the pandemic, I’m wearing less and lighter makeup these days. So when I came across the RMS Beauty Tinted Lip Balm, I thought I’d give it a shot.

The RMS Beauty Tinted Daily Lip Balm is $20 and comes in four shades. I chose the shade Passion Lane (an elegant pink with a hint of shimmer). The other shades are Simply Cocoa (untinted), Peacock Lane (a vibrant hibiscus pink tint), and Twilight Lane (a sheer, seductive deep berry). In all reality, I never thought I’d be a lip balm girl. Lip balm girls are easy breezy. And I’m far from easy breezy. However, there’s something really nice about a hydrating lip balm that adds a bit of color. Sometimes I think: “Hey! Maybe I can be easy breezy!” and then if I’m wearing any other makeup besides mascara, I always end up swiping on some gloss before I walk out the door. Oh well. A girl can dream.

First, let’s talk packaging. This packaging is so cool. It’s smooth, shiny, and sophisticated. I love how elegant it looks and it just feels fancy. Not like high end couture fancy, but more like the Williams Sonoma of lip balm kind of fancy. Even though the RMS lip balm is called a lip balm, I would consider it more of a light lipstick. For one thing, it’s extremely pigmented. Not just a little tint.

My biggest complaint about this RMS Beauty lip balm is that I didn’t really feel like it did anything except add color. Usually a lip balm is hydrating or nourishing or something. This one felt nice on, but didn’t really do much more than that. And it was definitely not a stain or long wearing like some other lip balms. I felt like I had to reapply often and that it would get patchy and a bit dry in-between applications. Although I loved the packaging, color, and the fact that it is a clean beauty product, the wearability and lack of extra hydration (or any other “oomph” for that matter), is a big down side in my opinion.

RMS Beauty Tinted Lip Balm – 3 –
Eh. It’s more like a light lipstick than a balm. It’s clean, very pigmented, and the packaging is super pretty. But you do have to reapply a lot and I didn’t feel like it really did much as a balm aside from adding color.

XOXO,
Tiffany
