Shop the Bite Beauty Upswing Full Volume Mascara:

If you’ve been to my blog before, you know I’ve talked a LOT about clean beauty lately. (But if you haven’t been here before, welcome!) To be sure, all of these clean brands and products out right now are not your mama’s clean beauty products. In the same way that self tanning products have improved by leaps and bounds over the years, clean beauty has really come a long way. In fact, I used to kind of give clean beauty the side eye. Mostly because it was never as good as the “normal” kind. For example, eyeshadows were always chalky and most products had little to no color pay off. However, thanks to brands like Bite Beauty, Milk Makeup, Lawless, and even Tarte, clean beauty products are now my absolute go tos.

The new Bite Beauty Upswing Full Volume Mascara is $28 and is available at Sephora and the Bite Beauty website. Whereas some clean beauty products are meant for “no makeup makeup” looks, this new mascara from Bite Beauty is aiming to give you Insta worthy lashes. When I first saw this mascara, I was super intrigued by the wand/brush. In fact, it has that same full and fluffy hourglass shaped brush that you might have seen on the Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara (full review here) and the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Brag Mascara (full review here). Plus, the website has all sorts of crazy claims like “buildable, lightweight, smudge and flake resistant, lift and volume, and vegan. Can one mascara really do all of that? And be clean?

Although I love all makeup, mascara is one of my top must have products. With that in mind, I have extremely high expectations. For example, my lashes should be big and bold without being spidery or clumpy, and the formula should last all day without flaking or bleeding down my face and giving me raccoon eyes. Even though that might not seem like a lot to ask, a shocking number of mascaras don’t live up to the hype.

Now when it comes to this new Bite Beauty mascara, I’ll get straight to the point. They came to PLAY! The wand is nice and fluffy and dense, which gives your lashes a lot of product, but not so much that it gets clumpy and hard to maneuver. Plus, the shape of the wand makes it super easy to comb back through your lashes giving you that separation. Not only that, but it truly is buildable. One coat will give you nice long “no makeup makeup” kind of lashes, but a little more patience and another couple of coats and your lashes will be fully Insta-worthy.

Of course there are other great clean mascaras out there. But one thing that sets this mascara apart is tree berry wax. Tree berry wax is a vegan alternative to beeswax that gives you “buildable yet lightweight volume”. Have you ever worn a mascara that was so thick and heavy it made your eyes tired? I have. And this one isn’t it. Actually, it’s so light and fluttery that one day I completely forgot I had swiped some on and fell asleep without taking my makeup off. Which is a complete no-no in my book and something I haven’t done in years.

Even better, this formula never flaked, smudged, or bled. In fact, I tried this mascara with only skincare and no other makeup, minimal makeup, and full glam, and it wore well every single time. I even tried it without my beloved clear waterproof topcoat on my lower lashes. It still didn’t give me raccoon eyes! Even after testing this mascara enough times to give you a completely fair and honest review, I still find myself reaching for it every day. It’s that good. Honestly, you would have no idea it’s “clean”. And that’s one of my favorite things about clean makeup lately. It’s almost become a non-factor. The products really are just that good.

Bite Beauty Upswing Full Volume Mascara – 5 – I love this mascara. It really is buildable. You can do one or two coats for length, or really build ’em up for some volume. This mascara wore very well no matter what other makeup I was wearing and never melted or flaked. It also gives super impressive volume and impact for a clean mascara and looks, feels, and acts like a “regular” one. Highly recommend.
