I love all things beauty. In fact, I’m a true product junkie. It doesn’t matter if it’s makeup or skincare, I want it all. When it’s time for makeup, it can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on my mood. However, when it comes to skin care, I’m seriously lazy. I hate washing my face and the last thing I want to do before bed is double cleanse followed by a 27 step skin care routine. But I still have great skin. How? Because I’ve perfected lazy girl skin care. With that in mind, I’m going to share my top 3 Lazy Girl Skin Care Tips that will help you get maximum great skin with minimal effort.

Lazy Girl Skin Care Tip #1 – Keep Things Simple

First and foremost, your skin care routine needs to be simple. A few years ago I asked my dermatologist what was the best possible skin care routine. Her response? “The one you’ll actually do.” So if you only have time for two things – cleanse your skin and moisturize. In fact, those are the two most important things you can do for your skin. (That and drink lots of water and wear sunscreen, but we’re trying to K.I.S.S.)

For my lazy girl skin care routine, I take off my makeup, add an active treatment like this retinol or this serum, and then hydrate with this moisturizer and this hydrating mask (all from Sephora). If you want to know more about how to layer skin care products, you can check out that post here. Although that may still feel like a lot of steps for you, just edit your routine to match your preferences. But whatever you do, don’t make it too complicated or you won’t stick to it.

Lazy Girl Skin Care Tip #2 – Keep Things Close

This is probably one of the most important things you can do to really stick to your skin care routine. Always keep your products within reach, wherever you would use them. If you only are able to put on sunscreen while sitting at a stop light, keep your sun screen in your handbag. Or if you will only remember to put on moisturizer when you’re in the bathroom in the morning, keep your moisturizer on the sink. For me, there are two main places I keep my skincare – on my desk and on my night stand.

Again, this is something that you need to personalize to what works best for you. For me, I am way more likely to stop and put on skin care products in-between meetings or when I need a brain break if they’re just sitting on my desk staring at me. In fact, I keep four specific skincare products on my desk – this daily rescue spray from Sephora that my dermatologist recommended to help prevent maskne, this Summer Fridays vitamin c serum, this Neutrogena hand lotion, and this refreshing MAC white tea spray for when I need a pick me up between meetings/tasks.

And before bed, there’s no way I’m going to do skin care if all of my products are in the bathroom. Because I never remember to do it until I’m already in bed. With my products on my night stand, there’s no excuse. I always force myself to put on my skin care products before bed no matter what. So even if it means you keep your skincare in weird places, it’s all about what works best for you.

Lazy Girl Skin Care Tip #3 – Keep Things Enjoyable

This is probably the most superficial and least important of my three lazy girl skin care tips. However, it’s one that can make a really big difference. As a beauty addict, I have accumulated a lot of products over the years. And occasionally, I get into a mood where I feel like I need to use up all of the products and samples I don’t like before I can open a new product I love. But that can sometimes backfire. Because if you’re using products that you or your skin doesn’t like, it’s going to make your skin cranky and make you not to want to do your skin care.

So it’s time to Marie Kondo those products! If it’s in your budget to use products that both you and your skin enjoy, you should. If you find yourself with a little pile of “no thanks” products, don’t just throw them out. Find a friend who might enjoy them.

The moral of the story is that if your skin care routine is complicated, your products are all hidden away and not easily accessible, and you’re using products you don’t even like, skin care will always feel like a chore. However, if you put your makeup wipes and a moisturizer next to your remote, you are all set to Netflix and skin care. And if you keep your favorite products in your desk drawer, you can skin care while you sit through that zoom meeting that could have been an email.

All in all, it’s about doing what works for you. Healthy skin is happy skin. Not only that, but skin care can also be self care. And sometimes a little lazy girl skin care might be just what you need.

XOXO,
Tiffany
