Some beauty products are just plain boring. On one hand, you have super flashy and exciting things like eyeshadow palettes. On the other hand, you have things like mascara and eyeliner. Although you can argue that you can have eyeliners and mascaras in different colors, they’re all going to be quite the same. Whereas at least with mascara you can design different brushes. But what about eyeliner? What in the world can differentiate one black eyeliner pen from another black eyeliner pen?
As I was pondering this question, I began to think about shoes. (Anyone surprised? No? Me either. Let’s continue.) What makes one plain black pump different from another? Well, you could add glitter, satin, or patent leather. Christian Louboutin took things a step further with his beloved red lacquered soles. So when I heard that Milk Makeup was launching a felt tip eyeliner pen that was not only vegan, gluten free, cruelty free, and clean, but also had a hidden secret that might just make this the coolest eyeliner ever, I had to see it for myself.
The new Milk Makeup Kush Liquid Eyeliner pen is $22 and is available at Sephora and the Milk website. According to the Milk website, it’s a “clean, waterproof felt tip liquid eyeliner pen formulated with hemp-derived cannabis seed oil and blackest black pigment for up to 24-hour wear.” As I mentioned earlier, it’s also vegan, gluten free, and cruelty free.
First, let’s talk packaging. Well, honestly there’s not much to talk about. It’s a black felt tip eyeliner pen. Although the lid does close with a very secure and satisfying click. So you don’t have to worry about it coming off and making a giant mess. Which is really great.
Now onto the product itself. Honestly, this new Milk Makeup eyeliner blows my mind. I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out what to say without sounding like an obsessed crazy person. This might be the best and coolest eyeliner I’ve ever used. Not to mention the fact that it’s clean, vegan, and all of those other things…. How is that even possible?
In the past, clean makeup hasn’t been the greatest. In fact, I talked about that in my post about the new Lawless blush (you can read that here). However, these new product launches are making me a believer. I’ve switched to almost all clean skincare, and with a few more makeup launches, I might be completely switched over to clean makeup as well.
Although the claims of “waterproof” and “24 hour wear” are huge, I think Milk makeup is actually telling the truth. This liner did NOT budge. I took these photos on a humid day that was so hot I had to put my phone in the fridge after shooting so it would cool down and my eyeliner didn’t smudge, melt, bleed, or fade. Not only that, but it took two different kinds of makeup remover to get the swatch off my arm. Plus it didn’t tug on my eyelid when applying and the tip is super flexible and soft.
Last but not least, I have to tell you the coolest thing about this Milk eyeliner pen. This eyeliner has a replaceable tip. Not only that, but the replaceable tip is already in the eyeliner itself. (Insert the Zoolander “It’s IN the computer” gif here.) All you have to do is pull out the tip with tweezers or a tissue, flip it around, and put it back in the pen. I normally would show you just for the sake of knowing how everything works and giving you guys the best possible review I can give. However, I don’t want to waste a single bit of this wonderful liner. Sorry guys.
For a quick full recap in case you forgot (and because I can’t believe it myself), this new Milk Makeup felt tip eyeliner pen is waterproof, vegan, fragrance free, cruelty free, gluten free, clean, and comes with a built in extra tip. Who could have ever imagined such a thing?
Overall Ranking (out of 5) –
Milk Makeup Kush Liquid Eyeliner – 5 – I’m obsessed. This liner is waterproof, didn’t budge or bleed, and you can even flip the tip around for a fresh new one when the old one needs a refresh. Not only that, but it’s clean, vegan, fragrance free, cruelty free, and gluten free. How can something free of everything be so good?
