Shop Tarte Cosmetics SEA Hydrocealer Concealer:
For me, shopping for a new concealer is like shopping for jeans. There are SO many things I’d rather shop for. But you do need a nice pair of jeans. And a great concealer. No matter how painful it is to find the right one. Lately I’ve been a big fan of IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye concealer. But the new Tarte Cosmetics SEA Hydrocealer Concealer is a surprise hit.

As the latest product in the Tarte SEA line, the Tarte SEA Hydrocealer comes in 30 shades, is $24 for full size and $10 for travel size, and is available at both Sephora and the Tarte website. The Hydrocealer is a vegan formula with Hydroflex Technology. It is made to not crease or settle into fine lines. This lightweight medium coverage formula conceals redness and and dark circles while brightening. Plus it sweat proof and water proof!
Before we talk about the product itself, let’s talk packaging. I bought the travel size in the shade 20N – Light Neutral. Even though other concealers come in travel sizes, they don’t always have a large variety of shades in smaller packages. However, the Tarte Cosmetics SEA Hydrocealer is available in a mini in all 30 shades. Not only that, but the cult favorite Tarte Shape Tape also comes in a mini in all 30 shades too. Overall, Tarte does an incredible job with their minis. They have so many options and it’s such a great way to test and try new things. And now I really want to go on vacation to just bring a bag full of tiny makeup and skincare!

Although travel size isn’t always the most cost effective in the long run, it’s a really great way to test out a new product without being super wasteful. And with all of the changes in swatching products and seeing things in person, I’m kind of obsessed that brands are starting to launch more products in trial/travel sizes. For example, the Tarte SEA line also has travel sizes in other products like the SEA Breezy Cream Bronzer (a personal favorite – you can read all about it here) and SEA Surfer Curl Mascara, along with several skincare products.

Although when I first opened the package and saw the size of the mini concealer, it was almost laughable. Like using tiny Barbie makeup. But it’s so stinking cute! At this rate, my makeup bag is going to look like a Barbie makeup bag thanks to my obsession with minis! The packaging is light and clean and beautiful. And since you only need a little bit of concealer at a time, the size of the tiny concealer is actually quite practical.
Honestly, I really hate testing new concealers. Given that I have dark circles and a lot of fine lines, it can be hard to find something that works. Everything ends up creasing or super cakey. Plus my under eye skin is super dry. So that can sometimes exaggerate other issues. However, the Tarte Cosmetics SEA Hydrocealer is 40% water! With that being said, I don’t usually believe any concealer that says it won’t crease. Almost every concealer creases on me. But this Hydrocealer hardly creased! In fact, there were times that it didn’t crease at all. And like the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye concealer, when it did crease, I just used a fluffy eyeshadow brush and buffed it back out.

I really love that this concealer is water based, hydrating, and lightweight. It doesn’t settle in my creases or look dry and cakey. Even with a dusting of translucent setting powder. Although I do wish it covered my dark circles just a little bit more. However, it’s a medium coverage concealer. So I didn’t expect it to. But a girl can dream, right?

Not only is the Tarte Cosmetics SEA Hydrocealer vegan, 40% water, a 12 hour formula, and light weight, but it’s also a “Clean at Sephora” product. Plus, it’s in really great company with the rest of the Tarte SEA line. In fact, the Tarte SEA Breezy Cream Bronzer is one of the top product reviews right now (you can read that here), and one of the products I reach for every day! All in all, I’m so in love with the Tarte SEA line.
Overall Ranking (out of 5) –
Tarte Cosmetics SEA Hydrocealer – 5 – It’s silky smooth, comes in 30 shades, not super expensive, vegan, and clean. Plus the travel size also comes in all 30 shades. Which is great. I do wish it were a bit more full coverage, but it’s touted as a medium coverage, so I can’t hate. And the packaging is really cute.
XOXO,
Tiffany
