Although I predicted neon as an upcoming trend last spring, it’s still out in full force. Including in our makeup! One of my favorite trend brands – Urban Decay – went all in on the neon trend with their new Wired collection. Since I’m a huge fan of the regular Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils, I was super excited to check out the new Urban Decay Neon Eyeliner selection. (For the record, these product photos were taken in early March before the current situation and store closures.)
The new Urban Decay Wired 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils are $22 and come in four shades – Jolt (neon yellow), Shock (neon purple), Amped (neon pink), and Vivid (neon blue). They are also available at Sephora, Ulta, and the Urban Decay website. Of course the pink is my favorite. But oh my goodness… That blue! Stunning.
I am obsessed with this eyeliner formula. In fact, I normally don’t like eyeliner pencils. I much prefer a felt tip liner. However, the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners are so creamy and easy to use. Of course the new neon shades are no different. Although my only complaint is that they are a bit sheer. To be sure, they are super pigmented. But I felt like I really had to layer it to get full coverage. Plus I feel like the colors are a bit muted for being “neon”. Like they are almost pastel neons instead of true vibrant neons. (Whereas the new Anastasia Beverly Hills Electric Cake Liners are true neon shades.) But that doesn’t stop them from being absolutely beautiful and wonderful.
These liners are a really great way to brighten any look. You can use them as a full liner like I did, or as a splash of color along the inner corner of your eye. You could even use them as a lower liner to add a bit of an edge to your look. I really love the juxtaposition between neons and neutrals. Of course I love neons with black too. But neons and a neutral base are a fantastic combo for summer.
Overall Ranking (out of 5) –
Urban Decay Neon Eyeliner Wired Collection – 4 – I love the formula and they are super easy to use. However, the shades are a bit muted and sheer compared to other neon products.
