Although I’m constantly changing my makeup routine and trying new products, I rarely switch up my skincare. However, when I find a brand I like, I’m always willing to try their new additions. For example, I usually stick to Drunk Elephant, Good Molecules, and Summer Fridays skincare lines. Once you know that a brand and their ingredients work for you, I feel like you have a better chance of their new products working for you as well. So when I saw there was going to be a new Summer Fridays Cleanser, I knew I had to try it.

Summer Fridays Cleanser Review - Summer Fridays Super Amino Gel Cleanser

Summer Fridays Super Amino Gel Cleanser is 5oz and costs $38. It can be found online at both Sephora.com and SummerFridays.com. It will also be available in stores at Sephora on February 28. According to their website and Instagram, the new Super Amino Gel Cleanser is “superpowered by a restorative cocktail of 11 amino acids and a splash of mineral-rich sea water, this gentle PH-balancing cleanser washes away makeup and impurities while it moisturizes and nourishes the skin morning and night.” It also says that the “efficient one-and-done formula means your pillow (and your conscience) is always clean. Gentle enough for all skin types.”

Unfortunately, I’ve been using the same face wash (Bliss Fab Foaming 2-in-1 Cleanser available at Ulta, Target, Amazon, and BlissWorld.com) for over 10 years. So I don’t have a lot of cleansers to compare to. But I do know what clean skin feels like, what great products feel like, and what smells good or bad. So let’s get back to the topic at hand.

Summer Fridays Cleanser Review - Summer Fridays Super Amino Gel Cleanser

First of all, the packaging of the new Summer Fridays Cleanser is absolutely stunning. The bottle has a great weight and texture to it that just feels luxurious. And the sage green color is the perfect calming aesthetic addition to any shower. As for the formula, it’s almost more of a serum consistency than a gel. It is very thin and has more an earthy smell than I was anticipating. However, it is still very light and fresh. Notably, each of the Summer Fridays products has a different smell which matches the key ingredients of each product which I think is really cool.

After using the Super Amino Gel Cleanser, my skin did feel clean but not dry or tight. Although the instructions say that you should use one pump of cleanser, I found I needed at least 3-4 pumps to really feel like I had enough product to cleanse my skin. The product did create a slight lather, but nothing major. It was easy to use and easy to rinse off. I think this product is great as a face cleanser. However, it does say to keep away from the eye area and it did not remove makeup very well. So if you’re the kind of person that likes to double cleanse (remove makeup and then wash your face a second time), this product is great. But if you’re like me and you like your cleanser to remove your makeup too, this isn’t a great makeup remover.

Summer Fridays Cleanser Review - Summer Fridays Super Amino Gel Cleanser, Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask, Summer Fridays CC-Me Serum, Summer Fridays R+R Mask

As for how the new Cleanser fits into the rest of the Summer Fridays line, here are my recommendations:

  • Morning – If you wash your face in the morning, use the Super Amino Gel Cleanser and follow it up with the CC-Me Vitamin C Serum (full review here) and your favorite sunscreen. Then proceed with your normal makeup routine.
  • Evening – If you wash your face in the evening, use the Super Amino Gel Cleanser and follow it up with your evening skincare routine. Then finish it off with the Jet Lag Mask for extra hydration (full review here).
  • Weekly – To incorporate the cleanser into your #SelfcareSunday routine, wash your face and then use the R+R Mask (full review here) or the Overtime Mask and finish up with the rest of your skincare routine.

Overall, I think the new Summer Fridays Cleanser is a great addition to the Summer Fridays Family. If you’re in the market for a cleanser (not a makeup remover), you are into clean skincare, have sensitive skin, or are looking for something new, this might be the one for you. But if you’re looking for a multi use makeup remover and cleanser and like to wash your eye makeup off in the shower, I’d pass on this one.

What do you think of Summer Fridays and the new Super Amino Gel Cleanser? Are you into clean skincare? What’s your go to cleanser? Let me know in the comments below.

XOXO,
Tiffany
