At the end of every year, Pantone announces a “Color of the Year” for the upcoming year. In the past few years, the colors felt a bit uninspired. For example, 2019 was “Living Coral”, 2018 was “Ultra Violet”, and 2017 was “Greenery”. Although each hue is lovely in and of itself, they don’t always translate well into fashion, makeup, and decor for the every day person. However, I’m super excited about 2020’s color – “Classic Blue”. And I’m even more excited to share some of my favorite ways to embrace the trend and wear blue in the real world.

(Please understand that I can’t change the colors of the images in the thumbnail carousels below. You might have to use your imagination on some of them, but just know that once you click, there will be a blue option! Of course, if you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know I’m totally obsessed with blue makeup. I’ve written about how to wear blue eyeshadow here and how to wear colored eyeliner here. So today I get to talk about doing both at the same time! Although I love a bold colored lid and bold colored liner equally, there are also other ways to wear blue makeup! There are blue mascaras, blue lip glosses, and blue highlighters too. The blue lip glosses and blue highlighters aren’t “Classic Blue”, but they’re still pretty.

Clothing

One of my favorite things about Classic Blue is how universal it is. Whether you’re a blonde, brunette, or redhead, blue is a very flattering color. It’s casual yet classy, and looks great on almost anyone. Plus, it’s perfect for any occasion. Wether it’s to the office, a wedding, or even a date, it’s a great occasion to wear blue.

Accessories

When it comes to pops of color, you know I have to include shoes! Especially these adorable blue suede babies. Bold pops of Classic Blue are a great way to show you’re on trend and a class act. Unlike pops of red (which can come across as aggressive), blue is seen as a friendly, calm, trustworthy, and reliable hue. Here are a few of my favorite (and easy!) ways to accent your look with blue.

Overall, when it comes to wearing Classic Blue, I don’t think you can go wrong. Then again, I don’t feel like you can go wrong wearing any color that makes you feel amazing! What do you think of Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year? Let me know in the comments below.

XOXO,
Tiffany
