As a self-proclaimed child of the 90’s, I didn’t reach my “fundamental makeup years” until the 2000’s. My formative makeup years were full of Bath & Body Works body glitter, butterfly clips, frosted eyeshadow, and white eyeliner. Think Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Mandy Moore (way before This Is Us). But when I think about the Beauty Icons of my childhood, they are straight up Super Models. Of course I’m talking the OG’s. Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, and Linda Evangelista. So when I heard that Kim Kardashian was launching a 90’s inspired KKW Beauty Matte collection AND there was going to be an entire cool toned palette, I set my alarm for launch day.

Of course the entire KKW Beauty Matte collection contains 2 eyeshadow palettes, 5 eyeliners, 6 lipsticks, and 6 lip liners. However, the collection is actually half warm toned and half cool toned. So you can really choose the right colors for your skin. And I think that is the coolest thing ever.

KKW Matte Lipstick - 90's Supermodel Swatch

Honestly, I’ve been super frustrated lately at the overwhelming number of warm toned launches. Gimme all the cool tones! They just sit better on my skin and are more flattering. So this Matte Smoke cool toned eyeshadow palette made me very happy.

Also, I’m super picky about lipstick shades. So I only ordered one of the six. All of the shades are quite neutral and nude. So I ordered the most “pink” shade – 90’s Supermodel. Plus, since I was placing an order anyway, I had to try the KKW Cream Contour Stick. After all, it is a classic.

KKW Beauty Matte Smoke Palette Swatches and Review

First of all, let me say that the colors in this palette are EVERYTHING. I could honestly live the rest of my life with just this palette if I had to. The color story is fantastic. With just 10 shades, you can create a light neutral eye, a brown smokey eye, a gray smokey eye, a black smokey eye, a navy smokey eye, and so much in-between. I am a huge fan of any kind of smokey eye. So I love the ability to create so many looks out of one palette. And I really love the way this palette can go from day to night so easily.

Another 90’s trend I love is a really great eyeshadow blend. I love when you can’t tell where one color stops and the next begins. It really softens your look. Plus, a pop of a lighter color in the center of your lid can really brighten up your eyes.

Overall, I love all of these products. The lipstick is nice and creamy. Although the shade is more of a peach than a pink, but it is still lovely. Plus, the eyeshadows are super pigmented and apply, blend, and wear well. I am very excited to add this KKW Beauty Matte palette to my collection.
