I have a soft spot in my heart for anything Barbie. While some people look into their childhood memories and see headless Barbies, missing pieces, or even cut Barbie hair, my Barbies are all still in tact and fully clothed. Thanks to my Grandma Betty, I even have the full collection of Hallmark Barbie ornaments and my first “grown up” Christmas tree included pink lights, a pink feather boa, and Barbies as far as the eye could see. I even threw a Barbie themed party a few years ago where everyone had to come in costume as Barbie or Ken. It was amazing. So when I heard about the new Pur x Barbie makeup collection, I knew it had to be mine. What better way to combine both my childhood and grown up obsessions?

The Pur x Barbie collection is available at Ulta and Pur Cosmetics’ website. The full collection includes an eyeshadow palette, four lipsticks, a lip gloss, a bronzer/blush/highlighter combo, a set of lashes, and a face brush. First of all, the rose gold and pink packaging is just the cutest. I think they did an amazing job of walking the line between cute/stylish/fun and kitschy/cheap/childlike.

Of course, my favorite piece of the collection is the eyeshadow palette. With 12 shades ranging from nudes to pinks to a gorgeous sky blue, you are sure to find a color you love. Furthermore, I am a huge fan of any palette with a huge color range. I think it is so important that you can create multiple looks with one palette. Especially one that can create both every day and statement looks all in one.

Although, I have to admit the Pur x Barbie lipsticks have the most innovative packaging, and the glitter on the lipstick itself blows my mind. Let me explain. At first glance, the lipsticks appear to be a solid stick of glitter, but the product itself is actually matte. When you apply the lipstick, the glitter completely disappears. No sparkle to be found. Mind. Blown. I don’t know how it works, but it’s like a weird lipstick version of an optical illusion or something. Plus, the packaging is so amazing. When you push on the top of the package, the lipstick pops out of the bottom! How clever!

As for the blush/bronzer/highlight combo, this product is perfect for the girl who loves glitter. However, I don’t like any kind of bronzer with sparkle, so I used the highlighter and blush for my look and skipped the bronzer.

Speaking of my look, I used the light neutral brown, the pink shimmer, and the hot pink eyeshadows on my eyes to create a soft but bold pink eye. Next, I used the blush and highlight shades from the highlight palette. Then I used the lipstick in Classic and topped it with the gloss. Finally, I finished off the look with my magnetic eyelashes. (You can read more about them here.)
