Happy Dad Jokes Day! …I mean Father’s Day. However, in my family, those two things go hand in hand. I know most people would say the same thing, but I have the best dad. To be sure, I have the “dad”-est dad of them all. My beloved Hawaiian shirt, fanny pack, and socks and sandals wearing dad. (If you read last year’s Fathers Day post that my dad guest wrote, you’ll understand.) Although throughout the years, I’ve finally convinced him fanny packs aren’t cool (except to hold puppy treats AND when I’m not around), and I’ve convinced him not to wear socks with sandals anymore, he’s still rocking those Hawaiian shirts (and even more proud of himself when he gets a great thrift store deal on one). And when it comes to dad jokes, my dad sure doesn’t disappoint.

One of my favorite things about my family is how open and welcoming we are. My parents have raised us to welcome all faiths, genders, sexual orientations, religions, beliefs, and any other differences. People are people and we are all worthy of love. Whether you are related by blood or marriage, a friend with no family in town, or even a friend just passing through, you are always invited to our family events for some good food and family friendly fun.

Even our senses of humor are all inclusive. We love costume parties, scavenger hunts, and we even had a Hunger Games themed competition. Anything light hearted and full of family fun we can all do together. One of my favorite memories is listening to my grandpa tell the joke/story “Who’s On First?” (Although many of you may be too young to remember this, it’s worth checking out.) However, the best part isn’t the joke. It isn’t even the punchline. It’s the way my grandpa tells it. Different every time, and never accurate. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

But that’s what my family does. We make each other laugh. My dad and I have had entire text conversations trying to beat each other with the best puns. One of my favorites was with ocean themed puns that went something like this: “Whale isn’t that funny?” “You’re so seal-y!” “I’ve got to go charge my shell phone.” “Ok. Sea you soon!”. Lately, we’ve been having dad joke battles and try to “out dad joke” each other.

Since dad jokes bring us so much joy, we wanted to share some of our favorites with you and your family on Father’s Day. All of these jokes are family friendly and appropriate for all ages. Whether you’re telling them to your kids, your dads, or kids telling them to dads, they’re all good clean fun. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

To all of the dads out there – thanks for everything you do. Thanks for teaching us to be funny and silly and to laugh. For teaching us to love and be compassionate. For teaching us to be tough and to get back get up and wipe the dirt off and keep going. But most of all, thanks for being our dads and loving us unconditionally. Happy Father’s Day.

Do you have any favorite dad jokes? Leave them in the comments so I can share them with my dad! 😉
XOXO,
