I can show you the world. Shining, shimmering splendid. Tell me, princess, now when did you last let your heart decide? Well it didn’t take much thinking for my heart to decide to shop the new MAC Aladdin Collection, that’s for sure! I’ve had this collection launch marked on my calendar for months. In fact, any time you combine my love for Disney with my love for makeup, I’m sure to be at the front of the line waiting to get into the store. Now mix in one of the most feminist and #bossbabe princesses and I could not wait to see what MAC had up their sleeves this time.

With 4 lipsticks, 3 lip glosses, 2 face powders, a lip glaze, an eye liner, and a 9x eyeshadow palette, the MAC Aladdin Collection is full of shining, shimmering splendidness. Filled with mostly neutral, desert inspired shades, this collection will be flattering for most people. The 9x eyeshadow palette does contain one permanent shade (Shadowy Lady), but the limited edition shades are incredible. I love that the selection of shades lends itself to so many amazing looks, from basic to bold. You can honestly create a ton of looks from just these 9 colors. Which can’t be said about all palettes.

My only critique about the collection is that it doesn’t seem to “connect” with the movie. Cartoon or live action. I was disappointed when I found out that MAC’s recommendation to recreate Jasmine’s lipstick is to combine limited edition Whole New World lipstick with Ruby Woo lipstick. If they were creating all new limited edition lipsticks for the collection, why not just create that custom shade? Plus, they could have at least thrown in a turquoise eye shadow in homage to Jasmine’s outfit or a blue eye shadow paying tribute to the Genie.

With all of that being said, it’s still a great collection with a fantastic selection of colors. I love any excuse to channel my inner princess. In honor of Princess Jasmine and this MAC Aladdin Collection, I created my own version of a modern day princess look. I used the eyeshadow x9 palette and the Whole New World lipstick.

First, I used No Ordinary Lamp in my crease as a prime. Then I added Rags To Riches all over my lid. Next, I used Riffraff and blended it into my crease followed by Agrabah for a bit of depth. Last, but not least, I layered Princess Jasmine over my lid/into my crease. Not only did it add a bit of dimension, but also a tiny bit of blue shimmer! Thanks Genie!

I paired my Jasmine inspired eye with a very neutral contour and blush. All of the promo images show Jasmine with a very neutral look and I wanted to stay true the the character. Although I did have to finish off the look with Whole New World lipstick. After all, I have to stay true to my own inner princess too.

XOXO,
Tiffany
