One of my favorite things in the whole world is glitter. After putting away my Christmas decorations it takes at least 4 attempts at vacuuming before feeling like the house is somewhat less glittery. And I love nothing more than giving a gift wrapped in butcher block paper with a big glittery ribbon. What can I say? My inner glitter monster just can’t be tamed. Likewise, it’s no surprise that glitter makeup is one of my favorite trends. Plus, with so many amazingly fun launches lately, it’s easier than ever to wear glitter for any occasion.

Of course, you may be wondering how I can condone anyone over the age of 12 to wear glitter in public. All I can say to that is “because it’s fun!” As always, my number 1 beauty rule still applies – Don’t try too hard! I know it’s easy to get a bit overwhelmed and excited and end up looking like you’ve rolled around in a pile of glitter. However, since we are grown ups, there are some better options for wearing glitter makeup this time around.

First, let’s start with the easiest – your eyes! There are endless options for glitter eye shadows and even glitter eye liners. A few of my favorites are Sephora Collection glitter shadows (Ice Queen and Ballet Shoes are two of my favorites – full review here), Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow (Perlina is my favorite), and this amazing Eye Glitter Topper by Violet Voss (shown in Cosmic). My favorite way to wear glitter eye makeup is super easy. Just create your regular every day neutral eye, and tap either the Stila or Violet Voss glitter toppers all over your lid. That’s it! Of course, you can always do the same technique with a smokey eye, or colored shadows too! If you’re not feeling up to a full glitter eye, glitter eyeliner is always a great choice too.

Next up, glitter lips! Again, we can do this the hard way or the easy way. The hard way would be to apply a cream lipstick and tap on actual glitter a la Pat McGrath Lust: 004 (full review and tutorial here). But I prefer using a glitter liquid lipstick like Kat Von D Everlasting Glimmer Veil Lipstick in Dazzle (shown above) or Pat McGrath BlitzTrance Lipstick in Club Kiss. However, my all time favorite way to wear glitter lips is with a fantastic glitter gloss. And it doesn’t get much better than Pat McGrath Lust: Gloss. I know I’ve done a full review on this gloss and talked about it countless times, but it’s just honestly that good.

Additionally, there are so many other fun ways you can add a little glitter to your life. IGK just launched a new House Party Hair + Body Glitter Stick to go along with their FOMO Holographic Hair Foam and their Preparty Hair Strobing Spray. All of which are perfect for festival season. Not to mention the fact that there will always be glitter nail polish. Always. Glitter nail polish is such an easy way to wear glitter without feeling over the top or overdressed. Essie Birthday Girl, Essie Beyond Cozy, and Julep Amira (shown above from left to right) are a few of my current favorites.

Like I said, I don’t think my inner glitter monster will ever be tamed. Especially with this many incredible glitter beauty products at my fingertips!

XOXO,
Tiffany
