In general, I’m drawn to darker or more neutral colors. For example, there’s a 90% chance I’m wearing black right now. When my mom told me I wear too much black, I branched out and added white and cream. After all, variety is the spice of life. However, there is one place I absolutely love experimenting with color. In my lipstick choices! And what better way to brighten things up than for Spring. After reviewing all of the latest trends and some of my current go-tos, I’ve compiled a list of my picks for the best lipstick colors for spring.

First of all, let me say that not all of the shades I’ve picked are a perfect match for everyone. As always, the colors mentioned below are what work for my skin tone. However, the overall trends will help guide you toward picking your perfect shade.

Without delay, my first pick for the best spring lipstick colors is: Nude. My current nude lipstick go-to is MAC Cosmetics lipstick in Faux. It’s that really great “my lips but better” shade. Even better, you can wear it on it’s own or give it a little color with a colored gloss or lip liner. Plus if you really want to make it special, you can add a fun shimmer gloss like the one I added from Pat McGrath in Pale Fire Nectar. You can read more about PMG Lust Gloss here.

Next up, we’re going with the color of the year: Living Coral. Of course we can’t have a list of the best lipsticks for spring without including the color of the year! My choice of coral lipstick is MAC Cosmetics lipstick in Ravishing. I topped it with Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Baby Doll for some added shimmer. Notably, I have a bit more trouble with coral than other spring shades. As a “cool toned” person. sometimes corals just don’t look right on me. With that in mind, you might have to try a few different shades of coral to find the right one for you.

Pick number three – Lavender Greige. My third addition to the best spring lipstick colors is one I’ve been searching for for years. Do you ever get a vision in your mind of the most perfect thing and you just can’t find it? Like it’s even hard for you to describe because you’re kind of just making it up but you know it has to be out there? That’s my experience with this lipstick. I knew there had to be the perfect shade of lavender that had a hint of gray, not too much pink, no brown, and didn’t make me look like I was playing a dead body in CSI or something. Ultimately, I finally found the perfect shade in Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick in Queen B. If I ever hear this shade is being discontinued, you’ll find me at the nearest Sephora buying the remaining stock.

Finally, my last pick for the best spring lipstick colors is the ultimate spring color – hot pink! Kylie Cosmetics Velvet Lipstick in Surprise Me is a great classic hot pink option. It’s dark enough to not feel classy and not super obnoxious Barbie pink, and it’s a great way to spice up any spring look.
