Sometimes, I just miss the boat on a trend or product launch. Maybe it’s because I already love a similar product. Or because I don’t feel like the trend is really “for me”. Perhaps I just don’t feel like I’m the target consumer. Thats how I felt when Kylie Jenner launched her lip kits. I’m well over the age of 18, I had heard questionable things about her products, and I’m quite opposed to purchasing anything online that doesn’t have free shipping. However, once Kylie Cosmetics launched at Ulta, I knew I just had to do a full Kylie Lip Kit review.

Although Kylie Cosmetics can be purchased at Ulta, some shades can only be purchased in stores. So, sorry to all of you couch shoppers. You might have to put pants on for this one. Another difference between purchasing from the Kylie Cosmetics website and Ulta is the selection. Ulta currently carries 11 lip kits, 11 liquid lipsticks, and 6 shades of lip gloss. Luckily, my local Ulta had both of the shades I wanted to try for this Kylie Lip Kit review.

First up, I was super excited to try the shade Posie K ($29). Described as a “cool mid-toned berry”, it was right up my league. I’m a huge fan of any cool toned rose/berry/mauve/pink/you name it! I absolutely love this shade. Plus, the formula was so easy to use and smells nice too. Although, it is a bit sticky and drying at first. I totally thought I was going to hate it and remove it immediately. However, once dry, it was fantastic! I honestly forgot I was wearing lipstick.

Of course I had to try the “true-blue-red” shade Mary Jo K ($29). You know I’m a sucker for an amazing red lip, and this one did not disappoint. I only wore this shade for a few hours, but it took TWO makeup wipes to take it off. Talk about long lasting! Valentine’s Day kiss proof for sure!

Even though I had heard some bad things in the beginning, I really love this formula. Both colors were exactly what I wanted and were as advertised. A perfect pink and a truly stunning red. And both would look so amazing on just about anyone. They were also easy to use and wore so well. Plus, Posie K lasted through Shake Shack lunch, a Blood Orange Lemonade, and a day of shopping. A major win in my book!

Overall, I was very impressed with the quality of the Kylie Lip Kits. Although, I did notice on the Kylie Cosmetics website that the cost of the lip kit was the same as buying the two pieces individually. So, if you’re like me and not really a lip liner kind of gal, I’d skip the kit and just buy the lipstick. Save yourself the $12! Next I really want to try the Koko K gloss and I can’t wait for it to get back in stock!

XOXO,
Tiffany
