As you know, I’m a huge proponent of trying new things when it comes to beauty and makeup. Of course, one of the easiest things to play with is color. Whether it’s on your eyes, lips, or nails, the possibilities are endless. Now, I have to admit – I’m not that great at playing with color in my wardrobe. I guess that’s why experimenting with makeup comes so easily. You can wear any kind of makeup if all of your clothes are black! One of the hottest trends that’s popping up lately is the color green. With this in mind, I’m here to show you how easy it is to wear green eyeshadow.

From hunter to sage to sparkle to neon, there are so many shades of green to choose from. My personal favorite is Supernova from the Pat McGrath MTHRSHP Sublime Bronze Tempation palette (pictured below). This palette is so amazing because you can create so many different looks from one set. Plus, everything Pat McGrath does is incredible and top notch. However, if you really love the green eyeshadow look and really want to experiment with a lot of different shades, the Huda Beauty Emerald Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette is perfect for you! It consists of 9 different shades of green and endless possibilities! Plus the price point is about half of the PMG palette.

Now on to the good stuff. Exactly HOW to wear green eyeshadow. If you’ve read my post on how to wear blue eyeshadow, you already know it’s pretty simple. First, prime your lid so your shadow doesn’t crease. Next, brush a neutral nude color into your crease. Now it’s time for the green! Pat your desired shade of green all over your lid. Buff out the edges to ensure you don’t have a hard transition line between colors. Finally, add a bit of a darker green, gray, brown, or even black into the outer corner/deep crease to create some really beautiful depth. And voila! A stunning emerald eye that will leave them all green with envy.

If you are feeling pretty confident, or maybe just want a more extreme or glam look, you can always add some eye-catching touches. For one thing, you could add a bit more “smoke” in the outer edges. How about a bit of all over sparkle on top? Or something I’m sure you’re seeing all over Instagram – a hint of lighter green or even gold shimmer in the inner corner of your eye!

Not quite sure you’re ready to wear green eyeshadow but still want to experiment a little? Try green eyeliner! It’s a really great way to up level your look without feeling too over the top.
