During my first few seasons in fashion, we traveled up to 18 days at a time. I went from a nervous flyer to a seasoned pro in no time. Since I was used to smaller trips of up to 4-5 days at a time, I was desperate to keep my comforts at home while I was on the road. Anything to make a hotel feel more cozy and myself feel less homesick. However, over the past several years, I have honed my packing skills and have created a list of my all time travel essentials.

Now, don’t get me wrong. This absolutely does not stop me from overpacking. But, it does make sure I have some luxuries and extra comfort while I’m gone. Plus, I’m all for being prepared for whatever life throws at me, and with these travel essentials, I’m prepared for anything.

Empty Water Bottle – Nordstrom – Swell – $35

One of my favorite travel hacks is to bring an empty water bottle through security to refill once I’m in the terminal. It really surprises me how many people don’t realize you can do this. Of course you can always bring an empty plastic water bottle, but I love pretty and eco-friendly bottles like this blush pink one from Swell. They don’t create as much condensation as regular plastic water bottles, and they’re sure to cheer up even the rainiest of travel days.

Crossbody bag – Nordstrom – Kate Spade – $198

I will admit. I used to be totally against crossbody bags. They’re not flattering and they are so utilitarian. However, for travel, they are a must. While walking, you can keep the bag more in front of you so you can make sure no one steals anything. In the airport, you can quickly stick your ID and boarding pass in it while wrangling your suitcase and navigating your path. And of course, it keeps both hands free for shopping, coffee, or eating on the run. You know… The important things in life.

Packable tote – Nordstrom – $49.95

Several years ago, I received a packable tote as a free gift with purchase from Victoria’s Secret. Every time I go out of town, I pack it in my suitcase. You never know when you’ll need an extra bag. But this new packable tote/backpack totally ups my travel essentials game. I love that it can be either a backpack OR a tote. Whatever you need it to be! Gotta love a utility player.

Jacket – Nordstrom – Zella Presence Training Jacket – $89

Unsurprisingly, a jacket is on my list of travel essentials. I am always cold. And when it comes to my jackets, I am super picky. I prefer a full zip jacket, so I don’t have to pull it over my head. Also, I cannot stand having a hood on my jackets. I’m not sure why. They just drive me crazy. I guess I’m also probably afraid someone will come up behind me and pull it over my head. Not that it actually happens, but no sense in making it easy. Training or running jackets make the best travel jackets. They are form fitting and light, but still comfortable and warm. As always, my travel jackets are black so they don’t show dirt, sweat, or clash with whatever else I may be wearing.

Hand Sanitizer – Nordstrom – Honest Company – $2.99

This one isn’t so much a travel essential as a life essential. I don’t think I really need to make a case for this one. Germs. Airports. People are gross. The end. As far as this lavender scented hand sanitizer from Honest Company, I love anything lavender scented. And if I can fight germs and smell nice, I’m all in!

Tiffany
