Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty has been a game changer for many. With 40 different shades of foundation alone, and very simple and clean packaging, it is truly an inclusive line. So imagine my surprise when I found out there was only one shade of red lipstick and that it was to be a “universal” shade. Say what? As you know from my previous red lipstick post, a classic red lip is my favorite accessory. And I cannot handle a red lipstick with orange undertones. I am a blue-red girl all the way. So I knew I had to get my hands on the Fenty Uncensored Lip Paint and see for myself.
As I lifted the Fenty Uncensored Lip Paint tester from the display, my stress level did lower a bit. It looked like a very “true red” and at first glance didn’t seem to have too much orange pigment. As a result of this discovery, I was ready to proceed to the next step. Once I got my lip paint home, I immediately had to try it on.
First, the rounded applicator is really unique. I found it very easy to use and I was quite impressed. However, it was extremely easy to mess up. I am not usually one to over line my lips, but I accidentally did with this applicator. It just glides so smoothly! With that being said, I’m not sure if this is due to the rounded applicator, or the fluid formula.
Which leads us to the formula! I have heard you either love it, or hate it. And I love it! It is so lightweight and creamy. The product is completely full coverage and I had incredible color with just one coat. It dries matte and my lips didn’t feel caked or cracked or dry at all. My only complaint is that it’s not transfer resistant. I would have thought that a matte drying formula that stays so well would be totally locked in, but I noticed a faint transfer upon test-blotting. Plus, it does have a weird taste/texture if you lick your lips.
Now, for the color. The moment you have all been waiting for. Drumroll please… I absolutely love this shade of red! It won me over. I honestly went into this with my critical “red lipstick connoisseur” shoes on, and it totally blew me away.
Overall, I think Fenty Uncensored Lip Paint is an awesome product. I just need a little more practice with the applicator. Plus it’s an excuse to wear more red lipstick!
