Fall Decorating DIY Glitter Pumpkins

I can’t believe it’s October already! It doesn’t really look or feel like fall here yet, so to get in the mood, I wanted to share this fall decorating DIY project with you!

I love most things about fall. (Except that it means it’s almost winter. I’m not a big fan of that part.) I love apple cider, crisp mornings, patio weather in the evenings, blankets, and the changing of the seasonal wardrobe. But, I do not like the colors. Yellows, browns, and oranges are just not my thing. Don’t get me wrong, some people look amazing in those colors and love them. Just not me. So, I’m going to show you how I decorate for fall. Always In High Heels style.

I bought these mini pumpkins from Target for $5. They came in a little box of 8. I wrapped each stem in FrogTape because I didn’t want to color the stems. I decided I wanted to spray paint my pumpkins instead of hand painting them with acrylic paint. It was a lot of fun. Please make sure you do this outside or in a well ventilated area.Fall DIY Glitter Pumpkins 02I held each pumpkin by the stem while I spray painted it and then set it on a piece of paper to dry while I sprayed the others. I recommend that you wear gloves while spray painting. I made quite the mess. Initially, I only wore a glove on the hand that was holding the pumpkins, but I somehow ended up with paint all over the hand that was holding the spray paint can. (Don’t ask. I have no idea.)ย Fall DIY Glitter Pumpkins 03Once the pumpkins were dry (I let mine dry overnight), I used ModPodge to either paint the full pumpkin, or create the design I was wanting for each pumpkin. Then, just pour on the glitter! Voila! I painted and glittered each pumpkin one at a time so the ModPodge didn’t dry while I was designing the others.ย Fall DIY Glitter Pumpkins 05I used a rose gold, silver, and black color palette for my pumpkins. You could use any theme or colors to coordinate with your home or your favorite things. This is a great way to show your personality and use colors that make you happy. Sports team colors could be really cute and they would be awesome tailgating decor! You could always use fall colors if you are a traditionalist, but it’s fun to be a nonconformist every once in a while. ๐Ÿ˜‰Fall DIY Glitter Pumpkins
